The Benefits of Social Media and Technology
So ya I procrastinated just a tiny bit to write up, and post this blog post so I am sorry for that. Anyways, this blog post is special because I got to include many of my friends into this post. Basically I did a little study on how social media and technology can be beneficial to someone with a special difference. I feel like I have not really explain what I mean by special difference. What I mean is that special differences are under huge umbrella of topics. Learning difference, medical challenges and other differences you could possibly think of. Anyways, that is not the point of this post!
This post is about your voice! By using Survey Monkey I got
to gain some pretty good information from eight of my friends. For that I really
do appreciate guys if you are reading this.
Here are my results:
Can't you tell I'm visual! Hehe! Anyways the reason I wanted to gather this and put into a blog post I do not think many people realize you can use technology and social media for so many awesome reasons! Like for me right now, I am blogging for you guys.
Here are a list of Apps you can use in life skill situations that the people I surveyed and also my own self uses.
1. GPS- directions
2. Facebook- contact people
3. You Tube- more visual and audio learners
4. Dragon Speak- helps write papers for those who have trouble typing (YES THERES AN APP FOR THAT)
5. Notes- to remember lists or to do lists
6. Calendar and reminders- important dates
7. Tip calculator- good for leaving tips in restaurants
8. Spotify- the ability to make playlists of different situations like reducing anxiety
9. E-Mail- contact for business and practice for the work world
10. Camera- fun to capture memories with people
However, social media and technology can be helpful it can be dangerous. You just have to use simple things to remember to stay safe.
Here are some key tips on how to stay safe on technology
1. Don't share personal information like address, phone number, or personal pictures
2. Don't talk to people you don't know very well unless they seem professional and not off putting to you
3. Keep different passwords for different sites so no one can hack your social media page
4. Think on what you are about to post. You have no idea on what it could mean to somebody.
5. Be safe but also have fun.
Again I use my phone and my lap top on a daily and hourly basis for business and pleasure but just like anyone else I try to use social media and technology pretty productively. Rather than just using it, try to find a reason to use your social networks and technology for good before purchasing or signing up.
Write down reasons you will use these products or sites and then focus on them.
I hope this blog kept you interested and wanted more survey blog post involvement.
I really enjoyed doing it because it was fun and I just really do enjoy statistics haha.
Anyways have a fabulous weekend and I will talk to you guys on Wednesday!
Love,
Lindsey
